Agri-Foods International Inc., a Salt Lake meat processing company that makes low-fat steaks, said Tuesday it shut down production at its manufacturing plant and laid off all but four of its 25 employees, citing lack of sufficient capital.

Agri-Foods said the four employees, two in the United States and two in Britain, continue to fill existing orders. The meat-preparation company said it is seeking financing or a partner to provide capital.

Lonny Adams, chief executive officer, said the closing is only temporary and that he expects the business to reopen once its cash-flow problems are solved.
