Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Vera Mary Kay Horton, 92, passed away October 28, 1998, at Bountiful, Utah.

Vera was born June 24, 1906, at Santaquin, Utah, a daughter of Joseph William and Mary Matilda Blomquist. Vera was eight years old when her mother died. She and her four sisters assumed the responsibilities of home makers and assisted on the family farm. She attended Santaquin schools and was the Jr. High Valedictorian. She was a graduate of Payson High School. She married Floyd Kay June 18, 1924, at Santaquin. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Floyd died Sept. 6, 1972. She married Otis E. Horton, June 1973, at Payson, Utah. Otis died Sept. 16, 1994. Vera was well known for her outstanding culinary and homemaking skills. Her handicrafts were admired by all. Vera was an industrious person who supplemented their farm income through employment with the Santaquin Post Office and McKay's Market.When 50 years old she attended Utah Valley Technical College studying to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She served in her new profession at the Juab County Hospital and later worked for Dr. Boston who practiced in Nephi. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a teacher in the Primary and Sunday School organizations.

Vera is survived by two sons, Blaine J. (Marilyn) Kay and Richard C. (Noreen) Kay. Sister, Evelyn Pay, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 2, 1998, at 1 p.m. at Holladay Hills Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East Santaquin. Friends may call on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Santaquin City Cemetery.
