JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Even before Tommy Tuberville had been formally introduced as Auburn's coach Saturday, Mississippi was already searching for his replacement.
Ole Miss athletic director John Shafer said that he had been working unofficially "for the last few weeks" doing a search for possible candidates should Tuberville leave after four seasons.Shafer must find someone who can continue what was started under Tuberville, who inherited two years of NCAA probation and just half of the normal amount of scholarships but had a 25-20 overall record.
Shafer said he did not have a timetable for naming the new coach, but most expect the search to be completed quickly, possibly in the next week.
