Authorities have filed a seventh murder charge against a former nurse suspected of killing patients under his care at a rural western Indiana hospital.
The charge against Orville Lynn Majors in the November 1994 death of Derek Maxwell Sr. was filed Monday, just before the deadline to bring additional charges expired.Majors, 37, worked as a licensed practice nurse at the former Vermillion County Hospital between 1993 and 1995, a period when the death rate was three times normal in the intensive care ward where he worked. He allegedly killed the patients with injections.
The death rate returned to normal after Majors was suspended in 1995.
Majors was arrested following an investigation of more than 100 suspicious deaths at the hospital. He has denied any wrongdoing.
