BOSTON -- The British are to apologize Wednesday for the high taxes that incited the Boston Tea Party.

The apology will come a mere 225 years to the day after angry colonists, incensed over stiff levies on their favorite beverage, dumped boxes of English tea into Boston's harbor and helped start the American Revolution. The Brooke Bond Tea Co. is sending actor Tom Baker, who played Dr. Who in the famous time-travel television series, to Boston, where he will deliver a formal address to Bostonians.

To show the country is truly contrite, British "ambassadors" will hand out steaming cups of tea to Bostonians free of charge.
