LOGAN (AP) -- A Logan computer consultant accused of raping a 15-year-old girl four times over three weeks has been sentenced to one year in the Cache County Jail.

Daniel Drong was sentenced Monday in 1st District Court for the 1996 rapes.During the hearing, Cache County Deputy Attorney Don Linton asked Judge Clint Judkins to make an example of Drong.

Drong responded with an apology and an admission of fault. "(The victim) did nothing wrong. I am the cause of this," he said

Judkins ordered Drong's sentence to be reviewed in six months to decide whether he can be put on work and therapy release programs.

Drong, who moved to Wyoming after leaving Logan, was originally charged with four counts of rape. However, in exchange for a guilty plea, two of the charges were dropped. The remaining charges were reduced to second-degree felonies.

"(The victim) didn't do anything wrong," Linton told the judge. "We have a betrayal of trust here that betrays society as a whole. Men have to understand they also have a responsibility to women, to keep women from this. I have seen her pain. There has to be a condemnation."

Drong's victim also appeared in court to echo Linton's comments.

"It isn't right to prey on fragile, little girls," she said.
