KAYSVILLE--Bernard Arthur Crawford, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and brother, age 80, passed away Monday, December 21, 1998 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Bountiful.

He was born August 12, 1918 in Monte Vista, Colorado, a son of George Custer and Violet Ethel Hill Crawford. He married Hazel Allphin on January 22, 1939 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. He was reared and educated in Oxnard, California, and graduated from Oxnard High School. He lived most of his adult life in California. He had resided in Kaysville for the past 22 years. He was an active member of the Kaysville 22nd LDS Ward, where he served in the High Priest Group as a secretary. In California, he also served as ward clerk.Bernie had owned and operated several Union Oil stations in Oxnard, California.

Bernie will be always remembered as a gentle giant and a true gentleman. He had a wonderful sense of humor. His family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were the center of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, of Kaysville; two sons, Gerald L. (Diane) Crawford, Bountiful, Utah; Bernard A. (Marilyn) Crawford, West Valley City, Utah; two daughters, Jennifer (Dave) Edwards, South Jordan, Utah; and DeeAnn Webb, Kaysville; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; his mother, of Oxnard, California; one brother, Kenneth Crawford, Grants Pass, Oregon; and one sister, Ruby Korton, Santa Paula, California. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, where friends and family may call Saturday only from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in Kaysville City
