Jackson Brown, the 5A football MVP, went through a grueling pigskin season as Jordan's quarterback without suffering a serious injury.

Unfortunately, Jordan basketball coach Hal Hale isn't quite as lucky as his football counterpart, Jim Birch.Brown, one of the best basketball players in the state, ran into a teammate's elbow during practice Saturday and hasn't played since. The Beetdiggers did fine without him Monday as they beat Copper Hills.

Brown's absence was felt Wednesday night, though, as fifth-ranked Jordan lost on the road to Lone Peak, 56-48.

"We could have used him tonight," Hale said.

Hale is hopeful Brown will be back in action when the Beetdiggers take on Cottonwood next Wednesday. He'll likely play with a face protector when he does return.

Lone Peak jumped on Jordan early, taking a 14-9 lead after one quarter and holding a 26-19 advantage at the half.

The Burgess brothers teamed up to lead the Knights to the victory. Sam Burgess scored 16 points, and Amos added 15 to help Lone Peak improve to 5-3.

Junior Morgan Sharp led Jordan (3-4) with 13 points.
