A confidential informant helped Lehi police and the FBI locate and arrest a man suspected of robbing a bank here.
The 25-year-old Texas man, who had been living in Lehi, was arrested Friday afternoon in Kingman, Ariz.Lehi's First Security Bank, 99 W. Main St., was robbed Wednesday morning at gunpoint.
Lt. Chad Smith said once Lehi police got a tip about the man's name and possible destination of Dallas, they followed him through California and Nevada. The man was attempting to board a plane in Kingman, southeast of Las Vegas, when he was arrested, Smith said.
"We were lucky to catch him," Smith said. "We felt like he'd take an officer out right along with himself."
The man flashed a handgun at the bank teller on Wednesday, and police believe he was suicidal. Smith was unsure if the man was still carrying the money he took from the bank when he was arrested. Police will attempt to have the man extradited, Smith said.
