Dale Reese McCann, 57, of Orem, Utah died March 31, 1998 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo of cancer.
He was born July 7, 1940 in Milford, Utah, a son of George T. and Gladys Reese McCann. He married Andrea Marie Schmidt on August 25, 1962 in Peru, Indiana and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 30, 1962. He graduated from West High School in 1958 and later attended Brigham Young University where he received a BS degree in 1966. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force till 1962. He worked for Kaiser Steel, General Dynamics, Signetics and was working at Brigham Young University as Executive Director of the Cougar Club, which he did for 24 years, at the time of his death.He was very active in BYU sports, watching his children's athletic events and supporting his family in every way. He was also an active member of the church having served in many callings including Stake Young Men's president, stake high councilor (twice), served in 8 bishoprics, as bishop twice, and at the time of his death he was a member of his High Priests group presidency and a temple worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea, of Orem; five sons and five daughters, Dale (Missy) McCann, St. George, UT; Darin (Jennifer) McCann, Springville, UT; David (Colleen) McCann, Las Vegas, NV; Kristen (Todd), Moore, Lehi, UT; Melissa (Greg) Knighton, American Fork, UT; Marcy (Scott) Condie, Molly (Shae) Cherrington, all of Orem; Elder Deven McCann, Brazil Recife South Mission; Macy and Marc of Orem; 15 grandchildren; Jantzen, Tanner, Ashley, Kelsey, Jenna, Jordan, Courtney, Paige, Madison, Jaxon, Jentry, Tyler, Austin, Braden, Jacen; three brothers and one sister, Lynn, Gary, Blaine McCann and Elaine DeMarr. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Sharon Stake Center, 545 South 800 East, Orem. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and Friday at the stake center from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
