Curtis Brown and Donald Audette scored 44 seconds apart in the third period Friday as the Buffalo Sabres rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Brown's game-winner came with 4:10 remaining in the third period after the center stole the puck from Montreal defenseman Craig Rivet behind the Canadiens' net. He skated in front and beat goalie Andy Moog with a backhand shot.Montreal had a chance to tie the game in the final minute, but Vincent Damphousse missed an open net.

Buffalo moved into a tie with Boston for fourth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race, each with 85 points. Montreal is seventh with 83 points.
