John Bruce Jennings died on June 10, 1998.

Mr. Jennings was born on Sept. 26, 1909 to Leon W. Jennings and Susan T. Jennings, LDS converts in Winnipeg, Canada.He received an A.A. degree from Snow College; a B.A. from the University of Utah and an M.A. from the University of Oregon. He was awarded membership in Phi Kappa Phi, a scholarship honorary fraternity by the University of Utah and a Silver Beaver by the Boy Scouts of America. He received a Certificate of Appreciation for his many years of service as an ACTION volunteer in VISTA. He also received an Award of Commendation in recognition of meritorious contributions made in the area of Adult and Continuing Education.

He and LaRue Paulsen were married in Salt Lake City on January 22, 1938. They were the parents of two daughters, De Ann Jennings, Glendale, California and Jo Ann Jennings-Johnson, Salt Lake City.

Mr. Jennings was principal of Manti High School for 11 years and professor of English at Snow College for 15 years. He was a part-time writer for the Salt Lake Tribune, the Mount Pleasant Pyramid, the Ephraim Enterprise and the Manti Messenger. He received several awards from the Deseret News for his achievement as an Outstanding Correspondent.

He is survived by his wife, daughters, five grandchildren: Draysan Dubuque, Devan Dubuque, Bahan Zardhaksho, Taylor Jennings-Johnson, Lynn Marie Jennings-Johnson and by several nieces and nephews and by a sister, Frances Martin, California.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Mr. Jenning's memory to the American Heart Association, 1937 So. 300 West #120, Salt Lake City, UT 84115, 1-800-242-8721.

Funeral services for Mr. Jennings will be held at the Manti Tabernacle on June 15, 1998 at 12 noon where friends may call from 10-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow under the direction of the Buchanan Mortuary at the Ephraim City Cemetery.
