The atmosphere was subdued in Judge Lynn W. Davis' 4th District courtroom Friday as jurors continued viewing allegedly pornographic Movie Buffs videotapes.

The five women and four men who comprise the jury seemed to be the only ones paying attention to "The Anals of History," "The Butt Sisters Do the Twin Cities," "Sticky Lips," and "Getting Personal."The jury must watch 16 videos rented at American Fork and Lehi video stores to determine if Movie Buffs general manager Larry Warren Peterman is guilty of multiple counts of distributing pornographic material, a class A misdemeanor.

The courtroom gallery stayed nearly empty Friday, except for an occasional journalist. Davis paid intermittent attention to a small television monitor on the bench that showed the movies, while his court clerk, court reporter and bailiff tried to concentrate on typing at their computers while blocking out sounds of actors engaging in simulated sex.

Three deputy Utah County attorneys, a sheriff's detective, a defense attorney and Peterman seemed less than interested in the movies at times. They often read documents while the videos played on a 36-inch television screen in front of the jury.
