Bessie Hays Poulson Peterson, passed away on June 26, 1998 at the home of her daughter in Washington, Utah.
Bessie was born January 20, 1916 to Donald F. and Beatrice Curfew Hays in Loa, Utah. She was raised in Cainville, Utah to the age of 11 when she moved to Redmond, Utah. She married Jewel W. Poulson in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 2, 1932. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on February 8, 1964.Bessie and Jewel spent their life together and raised their family in their beloved town of Redmond. Jewel passed away July 10, 1977. Bessie married Lawrence Peterson August 4, 1979. Lawrence passed away April 10, 1995.
Bessie is survived by four children, Renee (Rex) Torgenson, of Washington, Utah; Sonja Jones, Don Poulson, and Breck (Cheryl) Poulson, all of Page, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ilene Mansfield, Orem, Utah; Levoy Simon, of Scotsdale, Arizona; Koa Sheppard, of St. George, Utah; Marge Bassler, of Fallbrook, California; and a sister-in-law, Arnelda Poulson, of Redmond, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, John Poulson; sisters, Jessie Hays and LaDora Colby; and brothers, Ted Hays, Blaine and Wallace Poulson.
Funeral service will be held Monday, June 29, 1998, 12 noon at the Redmond Ward Chapel in Redmond, Utah. Friends may call Sunday evening at the Jensen Funeral Home in Salina from 7-9 p.m., and again, on Monday, at the Redmond Chapel from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Redmond Cemetery.
