Keke Chen, age 23, passed away on June 24, 1998 in San Francisco, California.

Born September 12, 1974 in Nanjing, China, Keke came to the United States on July 23, 1994 to pursue a degree at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1997 before moving to San Francisco to work for KPMG Accounting Firm.Keke excelled in all of her endeavors. Her diligence, tenacity, analytical ability, intellect, beauty and spirit led her to be in the top 1% of all students at the University of Utah. She was elected to five elite national honor societies: Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Golden Key, Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Epsilon Delta and earned the Top Accounting Scholar award at the University. She was well known by fellow students and professors to be dedicated and caring. She unwaveringly spent time and energy with fellow students to explain difficult concepts and processes. Her generosity in all aspects of family and friendship was abundant.

As an employee, she provided co-workers with considerable support and was consistently eager to accept new responsibilities and insure that work was done properly. Her dream, which beckoned her to San Francisco, was to attend graduate school at Stanford University and then travel the world.

Keke was supremely devoted to her loving and dedicated mother, Dr. Minghua Zhang of Salt Lake City and derived much inspiration and motivation from her. Also surviving her are her father, Xianming Chen; sister, Rui Chen of Nanking, China; devoted friend, Dai Tran with whom she experienced many joyful times.

Keke's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the many friends and associates of Keke, who have lent their support and love during this ultimately tragic time.

Memorial services will be held in San Francisco at Ashley & McMullen Funeral Home, (415)751-8403, 4200 Geary Blvd. at 6th Avenue on Sunday, July 12 from 10-11:30 a.m. An Open House will be held in Salt Lake City at a later date.
