Final registration for the Deseret News/Granite Furniture Marathon and 10K will take place July 22-23 at the Marriott University Park Hotel, 480 Wakara, which is in the University of Utah Research Park. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. There is no race-day registration.
The late registration cost for the 29th annual marathon will be $30 and the 15th annual 10K $25. Race packets will also be distributed during these hours and final questions answered before the marathon starts at 5 a.m. on Friday and the 10K at 6:15 a.m.In the 5K non-competitive Fitness Walk, strong early registration has officials expecting a record number of entries. A family of four can participate in the walk for just $40, which includes a T-shirt and race souvenir. The walk begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Delta Center.
The pre-race pasta dinner and race clinic on July 23, with food provided by Frontier Pies, is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will benefit a local charity. Hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the clinic beginning at 5 p.m.
Deseret News columnist Garth Fisher, director of the Human Performance Research Center at Brigham Young University, will be the featured speaker. The pasta dinner will be held at the Salt Lake Art Center, 20 S. West Temple. The location was earlier listed in error as the Gallivan Utah Center.
