A unique celebration of Hispanic heritage in Utah will be at Pioneer Park this year.

On Friday and Saturday, from noon until 10 p.m., performers will share the music and dances of several Latin American countries, Mexico and Spain. Residents are invited to enjoy authentic foods, arts, crafts, music and games.There will also be a pinata-making contest open to everyone. Those who wish to com-pete can bring their home-made pinata to the festival to be judged. Registration is $5 and can be paid at the festival. The winner will receive $100.

Utah's first Hispanic parade will also be a part of the festival. On Aug. 15 at noon, the parade will wind from the Salt Lake City Office Building (200 E. 400 South) going west on 400 South to Pioneer Park. It will feature Hispanic organizations and businesses, Miss Hispanic Utah, Miss Cinco de Mayo, and Hispanic community leaders.
