The deranged fan who killed John Lennon doesn't want a cent for the Lennon album he got the rock star to autograph shortly before the murder.
Lennon signed and dated the "Double Fantasy" album for Mark David Chapman outside his apartment building the same day he was killed, Dec. 8, 1980. The record is being offered for $1.8 million on the Internet by a man who found it at the crime scene.Chapman, who is serving a 20-years-to-life prison sentence, said he was contacted last week by a lawyer who told him he had the right to "assert a claim" to the album as a personal possession.
"I have no interest whatsoever in making a claim," Chapman told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle on Saturday. "I have never profited from this crime, and I never will. I hope the money will be donated to charity."
