Our beloved sister, aunt, and friend, Marilyn Ramsay, 62, returned to her Heavenly-Father, August 21, 1998 in Salt Lake City, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born March 6, 1936 in Lehi, Utah to Harold Vincent and Helen Clarke Ramsay. She was preceded in death by her parents. Marilyn's great love in life was music. She played the flute and piano and had a beautiful contralto voice. At American Fork High School, she played in band and orchestra and sang in the choir and solo performances. At BYU she sang in the Women's Chorus and in solo performances, including roles in "The Messiah". She graduated from BYU in 1958 in elementary education and music, following which she taught in elementary schools in Tooele, Salt Lake City and Portland, Oregon. She was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for several years and sang with the Utah Opera Company and with several major choral groups in the Salt Lake area. She continued solo performances until her illness made this no longer possible. She has gone to sing in a heavenly choir. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen R. and C. Paul Anderson, of Roy; also three nieces and a nephew; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the nurses and staff at Salt Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to the hospice nurses and workers at Community Nursing for their excellent care for Marilyn.
Service will be held Saturday, August 29th at 11 a.m. at the Ramsay plot in the American Fork Cemetery where the interment will follow. Friends may call at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to service.
