It wasn't a news event that brought CNN foreign correspondent Christiane Amanpour and State Department spokesman James Rubin together Saturday.

It was a wedding. The two were married in this sleepy village before famous guests like John F. Kennedy Jr. and U.S. diplomat Richard Holbrooke.

A hospital chaplain from Ireland that Amanpour had met in Iran officiated at the ceremony in St. Stephen's Church. Afterward, the couple received a Jewish blessing at a lakeside garden.

Amanpour wore a full-length, sheathlike sleeveless dress with no train. The groom wore a gray tie, black suit and white carnation.

The bride carried a small bouquet of white and peach-colored roses wrapped in a large leaf.

Reception for the 180 guests was next door to the church in a 15th-century castle.

"It's a wonderful place for a wedding," Kennedy said.
