CLINT RYDALCH, Tooele: Versatility isn't Clint Rydalch's middle name, but it should be. He's been an impact player on offense, defense and special teams so far this season.
"He does everything but drive the bus," joked Tooele coach Rick Harrison. "As long as he can still breathe and stand up, we'll keep him in the ballgame."Rydalch was superb from his fullback position in Tooele's first-week win over Wasatch. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior rumbled for 241 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries.
"He's an explosive, sneaky-quick guy with power," Harrison said. "He's really tough."
Rydalch showed off his punting skills Friday vs. Snow Canyon, booting nine punts for a 40.6 yard average.
He's also an aggressive linebacker, having made about 20 tackles in Tooele's first two games.
ASHLEY DRYER, West: When Ashley Dryer scored four goals last Tuesday during West's win over Skyline, the No. 5 team in 5A, she may have established herself as Utah's best high school soccer player.
The three-time All-State selection added two more goals against Lehi last Thursday.
"It's really difficult to pinpoint what she does for the team," West coach Gabe Bran said of his senior forward. "Everybody else that's around her does a lot of work, but the finishing work comes from her."
Dryer, who maintains a 3.8 GPA, has already tabbed 12 goals this season in six games for 4A's top-ranked team. Last year she scored 20 goals.
Utah's top Olympic Developmental player, Dryer has narrowed her collegiate choices to national powers Notre Dame, Nebraska, Duke, Stanford and Washington.
