Gilbert Richard Valdez, 53, passed away Jan. 19, 1999 in an auto accident.
Born Aug. 13, 1945 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Jose Nicholas and Saluma Pacheco Valdez. He married Cheryl Lee Gordon, March 8, 1975 in Idaho Springs, Colorado. He was employed by Kennecott Copper for years. Gil served with pride in the Navy in the Vietnam War. He loved sports especially his favorite hobby, golf. He was known for his smile and spent most of his life helping others. Gil was an excellent father and was proud of his family's accomplishments.Survived by his wife, Cheryl of South Jordan; children, Bridgette (Travis) Shields of Boise, Idaho and Scott Valdez of South Jordan; mother, Sally Valdez of Walsenburg, Colorado; three brothers and five sisters. Preceded in death by his father and one brother.
Memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 22, 1999 at 2 p.m. in the Parkway Chapel, 9625 South 3400 West, South Jordan.
