Rep. Greg J. Curtis (Assistant Majority Whip, R-Sandy)

What bill are you personally most interested in this legislative session? I am sponsoring a bill concerning the role of prosecutors in investigating criminal allegations. It deals with what is ethical for prosecutors to do.What is the worst bill you have ever supported? I can't think of a particular bill, but I can tell you one of my most frustrating experiences. I committed to vote 'yes' on an issue involving the gas tax prior to hearing debate. Once I heard the issues, I changed my mind. The representative who sponsored the bill was disappointed, and we had some harsh words. I've learned to be more forthright since then.

What is your greatest accomplishment in the Legislature? Last year, the Republican Caucus was going to allot $5 million for middle school class size reduction. I worked with my colleagues, and we persuaded leadership to increase that amount to $9 million.

Can you think of a particular experience that has best prepared you for legislative work? Working as an attorney and having court appearances taught me to be thick-skinned. I learned to articulate myself and think on my feet.

Other than politics, what interests do you have? I love to do outdoor things with my family, especially boating and water-skiing. Lake Powell is a favorite spot, but because of the distance we don't get there often. The other night I went and saw "Mighty Joe Young" with four of my six children. The only time I ever go to movies is with my kids. My wife and I love to go out to dinner. With six kids, our house gets pretty hectic, so we use dinner as our time to talk.
