UINTAH--Freda Sharp Jones, 75, died Thursday, January 28, 1999 at her home.

She was born December 20, 1923 in Fielding, Utah, a daughter of Jesse Essrum and Russletta Heward Sharp. On May 29, 1941, Freda married Lawrence Benjamin Jones in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lawrence died October 29, 1992. She had lived in Fielding, Ogden, Eden, South Weber and Uintah. Freda was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, and dedicated her life to her family. She spent many hours doing genealogy and compiling family history. One of her lifelong passions was writing poetry and many lives were touched by her writings. Other hobbies included playing guitar, singing in the ward choir, quilting and crocheting.Freda was an active member of the LDS Church and served in the Primary for 40 years. She was also a faithful Visiting Teacher. Freda was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was active in civic activities.

Surviving are five sons and three daughters, Terry V. (Bonnie) Jones, Uintah; Dan S. (Merle) Jones, Layton; Ned B. (Gloria) Jones, South Weber; Chad E. (Rebecca) Jones, Lindsay, Calif.; Russell (Patty) Jones, Ogden; Louise (Byron) Liddell, West Jordan; Eileen (Douglas) Burke, Clearfield; Rilla (Randy) Hansen, Layton; 42 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Freda is also survived by two brothers, Phillip Sharp, Clearfield; Murray Sharp, Roswell, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Jesse Linn Sharp; two sisters, Leah Sharp Prescott and Rilla Sharp; one son, Monte Jones; one daughter, Linda (Lyman) Fenn; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Uintah 8th Ward Chapel, 6660 South 1775 East, with Bishop Dallas H. Buckway officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Uintah Cemetery.
