TUCSON, AZ--Florence Elaine Nielson Green, 78, died peacefully on December 30, 1998, in Tucson, Arizona.
She was born June 8, 1920, in Richfield, Utah, to Peter and Edna Snow Nielson. She was the seventh of eight children. Elaine married David Sayers Green in Phoenix, Arizona on April 6, 1942. They had one daughter.In 1928, Elaine and her parents family moved to Springville, Utah, where Elaine was involved in many activities during her school years, such as playing the violin in the high school orchestra, singing and acting in high school operas, and being both editor of the school paper and an honor student. Elaine attended Pasadena Jr. College before getting married. She and her husband, David, lived in Phoenix for a time, and in 1958 moved to Tucson. Elaine worked nearly 20 years for the State of Arizonas Department Appraisals. For the past several years, she has been lovingly cared for by Dinorah Rosales and Natalia Reyes. She had a passion for reading which she continued to the time of her death.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Parrott of Tucson, Ariz.; her grandchildren: Cyndee Gotoski of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Nick Parrott of San Diego, Calif.; her great-grandson Damien Parrott of Tucson, Ariz. She is also survived by her sisters: Bernice Duncan of Chula Vista, Calif.; Geraldine Atkinson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Edna Gubler of LaVerkin, Utah; sisters-in-law: Lucile Nielson of Daniel, Utah; Madie Nielson of Sparks, Nev. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Green; brothers: Lloyd Nielson, Reed Nielson; sisters: Mae Nielson, Loya Lewis.
Funeral services were held in Tucson, Ariz., on Tuesday, January 5, 1999. Elaine Green will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah, on Thursday, January 7, 1999. Prior to interment, a brief memorial service will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 2nd South, Springville, Utah, with visitation at 10:30 a.m.
