WASHINGTON (AP) -- Al Gore's presidential campaign hired two aides away from the White House today as the vice president continued to fill out his new Tennessee headquarters.
Chris Lehane, official spokesman to the vice president, moves to the campaign full time to replace press secretary Kiki Moore, who decided earlier this month not to move to Nashville, Tenn., for personal reasons.A graduate of Harvard Law School, Lehane had served the administration as special assistant counsel to President Clinton and special counsel for Secretary Andrew Cuomo at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Heather Marabeti, the White House's associate director of presidential personnel, will serve as Gore's director of human resources, overseeing Tennessee volunteer programs and personnel.
Also joining the campaign, according to a statement from campaign chairman Tony Coelho, is Donnie Fowler, Gore's new national field director.
Fowler was New Hampshire field director for President Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign. He is the son of Don Fowler, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
