Donnette Lloyd Hatch was born in Logan, Utah, April 9, 1904, daughter of Ezra Timothy Lloyd and Jennie Hubbard. She enjoyed 95 years of joyful existence until she passed away October 25, 1999 of causes incident to age.
Her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she graduated from LDS High School. She attended the LDS Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse and met Floyd Frost Hatch, M.D., her husband to be. He died November 7, 1963.Donnette was predeceased by siblings Ezra Thomas Lloyd (Tom), Viola Lloyd and John Hubbard Lloyd. Surviving brother and sisters are Marie Gwendolyn Hanks (Gwen), Jennie Luverne Jones (Jayne), Dorothy Wirak and Paul Lloyd.
She and Floyd raised five children: Floyd Garn Hatch (Lorraine), Jane Hatch Jordan Evert (Robert), Joseph Lloyd Hatch, M.D. (Annette), Donnette Hatch Atiyah and Golda Hatch Olsen (Gordon). She showed constant caring and devotion to her 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.
Donnette was constantly interested in improving her very fine mind. She holds a Bachelors degree in History from the University of Utah. She was an avid reader, covering a broad range of subjects with particular focus in Greek mythology. Travel and literature were high priorities. She often combined the two on long cruises on container ships (freighters). She enjoyed membership in The Cleofan, the Browning Society of Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake Country Club, the Town Club and the Ladies Legislative Council. Flowers, songbirds and springtime blossoms were among her favorite things.
Donnette was a life long member of the LDS Church where she served in numerous positions and conveyed her deep love of the Gospel to her children. She also bestowed her passion for the arts and humanities to her dear ones with infectious enthusiasm.
Donnette Lloyd Hatch was a loyal and devoted wife and mother and citizen whose keen understanding of human problems and whose many accomplishments are far beyond the scope of mere words. She was truly an elegant and elect lady.
The Hatch family expresses humble and sincere gratitude to her kind and compassionate physicians of recent years, Kristen Ries, M.D. and Beth Hanlon, M.D.; her several devoted care givers, Carol Cagle, Pauline Bailey, Nanci Baldwin, Randi Bates, Carolyn Coon and Dusti Swain; plus the recently involved Hospice personnel.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, 29 October, 1999 at the Monument Park 12th Ward Chapel, 2795 East Crestview Drive (2795 East 1010 South), Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may call at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, Thursday, 28 October, 1999 from 6-8 p.m. and at the church the day of the service from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Interment, Heber City, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Primary Childrens Medical Center (Diabetes research).
