"Poppy"

Larry D. Jensen passed away October 1, 1999 after a courageous eight year battle with leukemia.Born January 21, 1937 to Lyman C. and Lucille Staker Jensen in Hiawatha, Utah. He was raised by Wallace G. Jensen, and graduated from Carbon High School. On Jan. 21, 1957 he married Valene McCourt Jensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish, and almost made the hunt this year. Around the neighborhood he was known as "The Biggest Kid on the Block" and he was always willing to help out a friend or a neighbor. Larry was very community and service oriented. He was very generous with his time and possessions, always ready to help anyone. Poppy was adored and cherished by his children and grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Survived by wife, Valene Jensen; children, Kurt (Kim) Jensen of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Valerie (Mark) Thompson of Ferron, Utah, Tom (Tenette) Jensen of Elko, Nevada; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Lucille (Staker) Jensen of Orangeville, Utah; father-in-law, Thomas R. McCourt of Heber City, Utah; brothers, Lyman, Stan, and Allen Jensen; and sisters, Barbara Naylor, Glenda Jensen, and Janice Gute.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 4, 1999, 1 p.m., at the Midway 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 250 East 200 South, Midway, Utah. Friends may call at the LDS Chapel Sunday, October 3 from 5-7 p.m., and Monday from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow at the Midway City Cemetery, Midway, Utah. Arrangements are in care of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City, Utah.
