Red Wings 3, Penguins 2DETROIT -- Sergei Fedorov's goal 36 seconds into overtime lifted the Detroit Red Wings over the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 Friday night.
Fedorov broke in on a pass from Steve Yzerman, got around defenseman Jiri Slegr and took a shot that got past goalie J-Sebastien Aubin.
Jaromir Jagr and German Titov scored for Pittsburgh. Titov scored with 1:46 remaining in regulation to force overtime. Jagr has a point in every game his team (3-8-3) has played this season, the only player in the NHL to do so.
Jagr has 14 goals and leads the league with 29 points.
Martin Lapointe and Nicklas Lidstrom also scored for Detroit. Yzerman's assist extended his point streak to six games, but he remained two short of his 600th career goal.
DEVILS 5, THRASHERS 1: At New Jersey, Brendan Morrison had a goal and two assists as New Jersey Devils beat Atlanta.
Morrison and Patrik Elias, contract holdouts who both came to terms with the Devils on Oct. 25, scored their first goals.
Claude Lemieux, Jason Arnott and Sergei Nemchinov also scored for New Jersey, which extended its home unbeaten streak to eight at 7-0-1.
LIGHTNING 4, SABRES 2: At Tampa Bay, Pavel Kubina scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Dan Cloutier stopped 28 shots as Tampa Bay defeated Buffalo.
The Lightning posted the 100th home victory in franchise history, while the Sabres had their four-game winning streak stopped.
BLACKHAWKS 5, ISLANDERS 0: At Chicago, Tony Amonte scored twice and Steve Passmore got his first NHL shutout as the Chicago Blackhawks used a four-goal first period to get their first home victory this season, beating the Islanders.
CANUCKS 3, COYOTES 2: At Phoenix, Adrian Aucoin showed the Phoenix Coyotes what to do when a team is down. Touching off a three-goal spurt in a 1:43 span, he led Vancouver Canucks past Phoenix.
BLUES 2, OILERS 2: At St. Louis, defenseman Chris McAlpine doesn't score goals often, but hepicked a great time to get one Friday.
McAlpine scored with 5:19 left in regulation time, enabling St. Louis to pull off tie with Edmonton.
