Jennie Marie Hart of Virginia, Idaho passed away November 17, 1999 at her home.

She was born May 30, 1935 in Ontario, Oregon to Eugene Pratt and Virginia White. Her stepfather, Harvey Dunton, later adopted her. She married John William Hart on September 10, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple.She is survived by her husband; seven children, Dianne Clark, Lamoni, Iowa; Linda Slack, Carlsbad, California; Marilyn Jaques, Virginia, Idaho; Nancy Fix, Aurora, Colorado; Tiana Scott, Salt Lake City, Utah; William Hart, Virginia, Idaho; Connie Miller, Roswell, New Mexico; 27 grandchildren; sisters Audrey Gilger, Hurricane, Utah and Anna May Honsvick, Toquerville, Utah; and brother David Dunton, Wilmington, Delaware.

Jennie was an historian who authored "The Expanded Samoan Mission History, 1888-1900," a record of the dealings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Samoa.

She also edited "Autobiography of Percy John Rivers," a history of a member of the church in Samoa. Jennie worked tirelessly beside her husband for several years in Samoa furthering the growth of the Church Education System there. She was a loving and caring person and besides raising seven children, she fostered several Indian children through their school years and opened her home to many youth that benefited from her care. She was a wonderful support and companion to her husband, John William Hart, retired teacher and principal in the Pocatello School District. She held numerous callings in the church, including Relief Society president and counselor, Guide patrol teacher, and over 20 years as a nursery leader. She was a skilled genealogist and while compiling the names and histories of thousands of her own ancestors, spent many years working in the Arimo, Idaho Stake Family History Center assisting patrons in their ancestral searches.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 22 in the Virginia, Idaho Ward at 12 noon, preceded by a viewing at the Horsley Marsh Valley Mortuary in Arimo, Idaho on Sunday, November 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Marsh Center Cemetery.
