Melvin F. Wolfe, 90, of Gering, Nebraska, died Saturday, November 20, 1999, at Northfield Villa Med. Center in Gering.
Melvin was born May 12, 1909, in Ainsworth, Nebraska, to Ova Harold and Cora (Ensley) Wolfe. He grew up and received his education there, and on August 16, 1929, he married Edna Berg in Springview, Nebraska. He later lived in Chadron, Nebraska, where he did road construction. He and his wife were on the family farm south of Hay Springs, Nebraska, before moving to Salt Lake City in 1956, where he worked in a furniture store for twenty years. He retired and moved to Scottsbluff and has lived in the area since.He was a former member of the Hyland Baptist Church in Salt Lake City.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Wolfe, of Gering, Nebraska; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne D. (Marianne) Wolfe, Wellington, Colorado, Gene (Raveh) Wolfe, St. George, Utah, and Gerald (Barbara) Wolfe, Bountiful, Utah; daughter, Janice Strotheide, Gering, Nebraska; brother, Joseph Wolfe, Wood Lake, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 24, 1999, at 11 a.m., at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah, 2350 E. 1300 So. Friends who wish may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
