David Varian Mortenson, 34, passed away suddenly from a heart attack December 25, 1999, in Orem, Utah.
He was born Dec. 12, 1965, in Redondo Beach, California to Jerry Varian and Sharon King Mortenson. David was the oldest of six children and was raised and educated in Cupertino, CA., where he participated in track and choir, and excelled academi-cally. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University in April 1990. He married Andrea Clayson August 13, 1988, in the Manti, Utah Temple. They are the parents of five children. David was a loving husband and father. David worked at Legato Systems as a software engineer. He was an active member of the LDS church and served as ward clerk, executive secretary, Elders' Quorum president, and was currently serving as a High Councilman in the Orem Windsor Stake.He is survived by his wife: Andrea Clayson Mortenson; and their five children, Steven Varian Mortenson, Rachel Mortenson, Andrew David Mortenson, Kristin Mortenson, and Daniel Clark Mortenson; parents, Jerry Varian and Sharon King Mortenson, Redmond, Washington; wife' s parents, Clark Reuel and Ruth Rasmussen Clayson, Payson, Utah; brothers and sisters, Ann (John) Bull, Issaquah, Washington; Peter Carl (Katrena) Mortenson, Monroe, Washington; Kathy (David) Weller, Snohomish, Washington; Jennilyn (Phillip) Burr, Orem, Utah; and Lisa Mortenson, Provo, Utah; and his grandmother, Virginia Bowen King, Orem, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Orem Windsor Stake Center, 60 East 1600 North. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem or Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Orem Windsor Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
