Alma W. Richards, who represented Utah in the Olympic games in Sweden, winning first place in the running high jump, arrived in Salt Lake this afternoon. Richards is in the best of health and says that he enjoyed the trip immensely.

On Wednesday evening, he will be the guest of honor at a banquet given at the Roberts Hotel in Provo by the athletic committee of the Brigham Young university. Richards will be presented with a medal by the institution which he represented.Coach E. L. Roberts of the B.Y.U. went to Thistle last night and met Richards there on the Denver & Rio Grande Western . . .

Utah's first Olympic competitor began running as a lad in Parowan. Going back to high school at 19, he won some state meets, then went to BYU, where Coach Roberts recognized his abilities and encouraged him into the Olympics. The school donated $150 to make his trip to Chicago and the U.S. trials possible. Competing against 20 jumpers in Stockholm, he broke a record with the bar at 6 feet 4 inches off the ground. He continued competing in athletic events into his middle years.
