COLOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Fire swept through a house that didn't have smoke detectors early Thursday, killing a couple and their four children.
Firefighters pulled the bodies from the single-family home, about 60 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.The fire was reported around 12:40 a.m. and was under control a few hours later, officials said. The blaze destroyed the white, three-bedroom frame house. Toys and a child's scooter were out front.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
The victims were identified as Shane Simpson, 30; his wife, Deanna Renee Simpson; and their children, who ranged in age from infancy to age 5.

The infant was found under his father's body. Only the family dog, which was tied outside, survived.
