I am tired of people taking potshots at my wife (Sharlene Wells Hawkes). I am specifically talking about the letter by Natalie Fordham stating that the statements made by my wife were offensive and ludicrous to parents. Since our marriage, I have come to understand why we are told not to judge one another. When we judge others we more often than not form incorrect opinions.

Unfortunately, Fordham took a couple quotes out of context and formed the opinion that Sharlene is neglecting her children and pursuing a career. Nothing could be further from the truth. Occasionally I watch the kids for an hour while she shoots a commercial, but she is right back home practicing piano with the girls or fixing a meal. When she speaks on the road, she is only gone two days per month. It just so happens that Sharlene is one of those uniquely gifted people that can accomplish a great deal in a small amount of time. All her "career" work is done after the children are asleep. She spends more time with our children than most moms do with theirs. She has been the perfect wife and mother. Please don't let the images that the media create get you too bent out of shape.
