Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Melba Stevens Hall, age 94, passed away on March 11, 1999, at the East Lake Care Center in Provo, Utah.

She was born on September 23, 1904 in Holden, Utah to Edward F. and Emma Maud Robins Stevens. She was the last remaining child in the family of eight children.Melba attended Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah and Millard Stake Academy in Hinckley, Utah and she worked in the family store in Holden, Utah. She served in the Mexican Mission under beloved President Rey L. Pratt from 1925 to 1927.

She married Reed L. Hall in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple on March 7, 1928. They lived in Idaho until 1943 and then resided in Compton and Whittier, California. Reed died in Whittier, California on February 13, 1991. In 1993, Melba moved to Orem, Utah to be near family members.

Melba was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a number of ward and stake positions in the Young Women and Relief Society programs. At the time of her passing she was a member of the Sharon Park Third Ward. Melba was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her two sons, Reed Stanley (Dorothy) Hall, Provo, UT; and Edward S. (Jinni) Hall, Ramona, CA; eight grandchildren, John S. (Kimberly) Hall, Woodland Hills; Christopher Hall, Sandy, UT; Gary S. (Elizabeth) Hall, Pocatello, ID; Tracey H. (Robert) Grillo, Julian, CA; Suzanne H. (Dean) Lefler, Houston, TX; Elizabeth H. (Burt) Merrill, South Jordan, UT; Leslie H. (Michael) Russo, Julian, CA; and Andrew R. (Jenifer) Hall, Pittsburgh, PA; and 28 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law: Fern (Herbert) Hall, Bountiful, UT; and a brother-in-law: Evan (Iona) Cottam, Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed L. Hall, her parents, and her siblings and spouses: Orvin E. (Louise) Stevens, Leda (Harold) Wood, Wm. Elbert (Elizabeth) Stevens, Annie S. Johnson, Harold R. Stevens, Helen (Cecil) Baker, and Edith (Duane) Callister.

Family and friends in Utah may call Tuesday evening, March 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 20, in the Whittier Pickering Ward, 6203 S. Passons Blvd., Pico Rivera, CA. Family and friends in California may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA.
