Ben Larry Call, 59, of Orem, died of a brain tumor at his home March 13, 1999.
He was born September 23, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, to Ben and Lois Call who now reside in Twin Falls, Idaho. Larry graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1957, attended BYU, graduated from Utah State University with a BFA in Landscape Architecture. He married Joan Mitchell on September 18, 1959, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 1995 after 29 years. He has since worked as a landscape architect.He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various callings such as high council, bishop, stake executive secretary, stake mission president, and high priest group leader.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Orem; and seven children, Heidi (Kent) Higgins, Idaho Falls, ID; Scott (Ruth) Call, Park City; Mike (Mindy) Call, Salt Lake City; Jill (Trevor) Smith, Orem; Jon (Janet) Call, Orem; Wendy (Travis) Eggen, Phoenix, AZ; Chad Call, Orem; his parents, and a brother, Randy D. (Connie) Call, West Jordan, and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Cascade First Ward Chapel, 481 East Center, Orem. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
