Bills, a freshman at BYU, died at LDS Hospital after the 7 p.m. Monday accident. She was night skiing at Brighton resort with friends on the intermediate "Scout" run when she apparently lost control, leaving the groomed trail and running into a stand of trees, Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy Todd Gamble said.

Icy ski conditions may have been a factor in the accident, Gamble said.

Bills was majoring in communications and was a song leader for the BYU cheer squad. BYU is flying its flag at half-staff until Wednesday. Bills' funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Oak Hills Stake Center, 925 E. North Temple Drive in Provo.

On Sunday, authorities said Brubaker died after skiing into a tree at Park City Mountain Resort.
