Carl Dennis Rohlfing our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away March 16, 1999 at the age of 81.
Born December 13, 1917 to Henry Adolph and Lillie Johnson Rohlfing in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Effie Cundick April 8, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Graduated from South High and Henager Business College in Salt Lake City and Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles, CA.Dennis joined the Army Air Corps in October 1940 at Fort Douglas, Utah and was sent overseas to the Philippines in October 1941. He was taken Prisoner of War in May 1942 and released 3 years later in September 1945. He was recalled for the Korean War in August 1950 and medically retired from the military in 1951.
He and his wife resided in Encino, CA. and Ventura, CA. and returned to Salt Lake City in July 1992.
Survived by his wife, Effie; son, Dale C. (Deborah), of Layton, UT; daughter, Carole (David) Sorensen, of Bothell, WA;, ten grandchildren; sister, Donna (Roy) Crawford; brother, Richard (Rosalie); and sisters-in-law, LaVon and Melitta Rohlfing. Preceded in death by two brothers Jack and Hank.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 1999 at the Cottonwood 12th Ward, 1750 East Spring Lane (5240 South). Friends may call on Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and at the ward from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
