Virginia Lloyd Evans Gillmore died February 27, 1999 in Provo, Utah.
A daughter of Joseph Lloyd and Mary Margaret Johnson Lloyd. She attended Brigham Young University. She married B. Davis Evans, August 16, 1939, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. He died. She later married Clint Gillmore.She has been a Photo Journalist for 32 years. She has been employed by The Daily Herald, The Salt Lake Tribune, The Payson Chronicle, and The Spanish Fork Press. During the 10 years as a news correspondent with the Daily Herald, she wrote a column entitled "Around the Town." She was also the State President for the Association of the National League of American Penwomen Vignettes written by Virginia have been read on KSL radio, and her verses appeared in "Utah Sings" by the Utah Poetry Society. Virginia assisted her husband at the Spanish Fork High School as publicity chairman, costume chairperson and makeup artist. She was also employed at Brigham Young University as a Buyer and Manager for Trade Books in the bookstore.
Virginia was a member of the L.D.S. Church where she served in many callings including stake boards of both YWMIA and Sunday School. In her final years, she resided at the Seville Retirement center, where she wrote a monthly newsletter.
She is survived by her husband, Clint Gillmore of Orem, two sons and one daughter: Joseph L. (Teddie) Evans, Vernal; Michael Refell (Bonnie) Evans, Spanish Fork; Patricia (Tracy) Frandsen, Spanish Fork; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, B. Davis Evans, and her, son David John Evans.
Funeral services will be held Thursday March 4, 1999 at 12 noon in the Spanish Fork 1st Ward Chapel, 310 East Center. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary of Spanish Fork, 187 South Main, or Thursday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B. Davis Evans Scholarship fund in care of Nebo Foundation at 350 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660.
