Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. The new mission presidents and their assignments are:

W. Kent Fitzgerald, 56, California San Jose Mission; Yorktown Ward, Yorktown New York Stake; first counselor in stake presidency; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop and bishop's counselor, Young Men president, stake YMMIA president and counselor, high priests and seventies group leader, stake mission president, and missionary in British and Southwest British Mission; director of sales administration for Reader's Digest; received bachelor's degree in accounting from BYU; born in Salt Lake City to Walter B. and Vivian Wangsgard Fitzgerald; married Judy Strong, four children. She is ward Relief Society president; former seminary teacher, stake YWMIA president and counselor, and ward YWMIA president and teacher, and Primary president; received bachelor's degree in education from University of Utah and master's degree in administration from Iona University in New Rochelle, N.Y.; school principal; born in Salt Lake City to Lewis G. and Julia Elaine Coles Strong.William D. Friden, 45, (mission assignment to be announced); Northridge 14th Ward, Orem Utah Northridge Stake; Primary teacher; former bishop and bishop's counselor, high councilor, stake clerk, Scoutmaster, Young Men president, and missionary in Andes Peru Mission; works in sales for Aspect; received bachelor's degree in communications from BYU; born in Oakland, Calif., to Stanley M. and Mary Jane Davis Friden; married Lorelle Frances Fisher; six children. She is a Primary teacher; former counselor and secretary in stake Relief Society presidency, Relief Society president, Sunday School and Relief Society teacher, and teacher development leader; attended then-Church College of Hawaii, received B.A. degree in communications from BYU; born in Brisbane, Australia, to Vernon F. and Hazel Rachel Tree Fisher.

Kim M. Johnson, 52, Finland Helsinki Mission; Highland 2nd Ward, Pocatello Idaho Highland Stake; counselor to Idaho Pocatello Mission president; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, Young Men adviser, and missionary in Finnish Mission; institute instructor; received bachelor's degree in sociology and master's in recreation from BYU; born in Brigham City, Utah, to Conrad A. and Norma Monson Johnson; married Pamela Rogers; five children. She serves with her husband in the Idaho Pocatello Mission; former ward choir director, counselor in stake Young Women presidency, counselor in ward Relief Society presidency, Young women camp director and sports director; received bachelor's degree and master's in education from BYU; born in Nampa, Idaho, to Milford J. and Myrtle Nelson Rogers.

George Mavromatis, 37, Greece Athens Mission; Kendall Ward, Miami Florida (Spanish) Stake; first counselor in stake presidency; former bishop and counselor; high councilor, stake and ward Young Men president, high priests group leader, ward clerk, and missionary in Brazil Rio de Janeiro Mission; president of a computer distributing company; born in Jao Pessoa, Brazil, to Nicolas and Georgia Mavromatis; married Selma Vannunccini; three children.
