Donald Thomas, a veteran security guard for the LDS Church, age 62, died from injuries

sustained while protecting others at the Family History Library April 15, 1999.Born June 5, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of James Leland and Ruth Jane Pettit Thomas. Married KonaDee Warrick September 16, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was an active member of the LDS Church, served a mission to the Central States, held various church positions throughout the years and taught the gospel through his example. Cared for his wife unselfishly for 25 years as a special caregiver. He loved everyone he knew unconditionally and was not judgmental. He died as he lived, serving and protecting others.

He enjoyed painting and being with his grandchildren. An avid collector of music and books.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the outpouring of love from their family, church, neighbors and community.

Survived by wife, KonaDee; children, Tami (Jay) Schmidt, Kory (Jennifer) Thomas, Kraig, Traci (Dan) Roberts; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Bruce (Katy) and David (Brenda); sisters, Nadine (John) Davis.

Preceded in death by parents; son, Kevin William Thomas; brother, Jay.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 12:00 noon at the Westbrook Stake Center, 4113 West 6200 South. Friends may call Sunday, 5-8 p.m at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 11:00-11:45 a.m. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
