MOSCOW (AP) -- A bomb exploded Saturday outside a building that houses the U.S. and British consulates in the city of Yekaterinburg. No injuries were reported.

Police did not know if the explosion in Yekaterinburg, about 900 miles east of Moscow, was connected to U.S. and British involvement in NATO strikes on Yugoslavia, which Russia vehemently opposes. However, Yekaterinburg Mayor Arkady Chernetsky condemned the bombing, saying: "If anyone thinks they are thereby fighting NATO, they are mistaken."

According to Federal Security Service spokesman Alexander Zdanovich, the bomb was a homemade device that had been left under a car in a parking lot outside the building.

The explosion left a 3-foot-deep crater in the parking lot and blew out windows in the four-story brick building, which also houses a bank and several businesses.
