HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Self-described cold-blooded and remorseless killer Aaron Christopher Foust was executed by injection Wednesday night for robbing and strangling a hospital executive.
And in Virginia, a man who killed two women during a six-day spree of hammer beatings was executed.Foust, 26, was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m. He had demanded that no appeals be filed on his behalf, clearing the way for the 10th execution this year in Texas.
"Adios, amigos," Foust said in a brief final statement. "I'll see ya'll on the other side. That's it. I'm ready, ready when ya'll are."
A former welder and carpenter who dealt drugs on the side, Foust was a week away from entering the Army in May 1997 when he killed David Ward, 43, at Ward's Fort Worth apartment.
In Virginia, Eric Payne, 26, was executed by injection for killing Ruth Parham, 61, and Sally Fazio, 57, in the Richmond area in June 1997, six months after he finished serving a six-year prison term for possession of LSD.
In a final statement, Payne said: "I love you, Margie, and we'll be together again." A corrections spokesman said the reference was to Payne's ex-wife.
