WOMAN SUES OLOWOKANDI: A former University of the Pacific student claims Los Angeles Clippers rookie Michael Olowokandi raped her last year, fathering a child.
The woman alleges in a civil lawsuit that Olowokandi forced her to have sex on June 5, 1998, three weeks before the Clippers made the 7-foot-1 center the No. 1 draft choice.In a written statement, Olowokandi's agent said the child was fathered while the two were "in a college relationship" and the baby has been placed in a "loving, caring and well-screened home with adoptive parents."
ANOTHER SUIT VS. RODMAN: A woman claims in a lawsuit that Dennis Rodman broke her camera and assaulted her in the lobby of a casino after she tried to take his picture.
Rebecca Mardis of Laurel County, Ky., seeks $1 million from the former basketball star. She says Rodman slammed her camera to the floor in January and lifted her into the air in a threatening manner, then laughed at her fright.
Rodman's agent did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.
Rodman has faced several suits over his alleged behavior in Las Vegas casinos. The most recent was filed May 19 by a security guard who accused him of grabbing her breast at the Las Vegas Hilton.
Rodman was released by the Los Angeles Lakers in April.
