LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. -- The husband of a Kearns woman whose 1996 slaying has never been solved died in a car accident in Colorado last weekend.

Killed was:James E. Redmond Jr., 45, Kearns.

Redmond was married to Lisa Redmond, 36, who was killed in December 1996. A delivery person for a West Valley Pizza Hut, Lisa Redmond set out to make a delivery about 9:45 p.m on a Monday but never arrived.

Her body was found run over at 5240 W. 3100 South. Police say Lisa Redmond's assailant ran her over with her own pickup truck. The pickup was later found in the parking lot of a West Valley church.

James Redmond and his two children were traveling south on I-25 near Fort Collins, Colo., Saturday when David Nelson, 26, of Lakewood, Colo., merged from the center median to the left lane, according to the Colorado Highway Patrol. At the same time, James Redmond merged from the right lane to the left, hitting the right rear of Nelson's 45-foot trailer, a CHP report states.

James Redmond's car was partially wedged under the trailer. He suffered massive injuries and died at the scene. His two children, Megan and Nathan Redmond, were transported to Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, where they were treated for minor injuries and later released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
