William Herman (Bill) Doose, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Thursday, July 1, 1999 after a long illness at his home in Salt Lake City.

Bill was born on February 7, 1917 in Garfield, County, Colorado, the second of five children to H. Herman and Alvina E. Doose. Married Diana Westover, July 4, 1940 in Tooele, Utah.Bill enjoyed life and had a great sense of humor. He fought a good fight with MS and worked hard to provide for his wife and family. He was a Long Line Truck Driver for 45 years before retiring from IML Freight Lines in 1977. After retirement Bill lived in Glendale, Arizona with his wife Diana until their return to Salt Lake in 1993. Bill loved his family, music, dancing, and time at their cabin in the Uintahs. He was a charter member of the Murray (Cottonwood) Elks Lodge #2344 and also a member of the Local Order of Moose, Salt Lake Lodge #259.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Diana; sons, Bill Doose, Jr., Anaheim, California; Gary (Jane) Doose, Sandy, Utah; and Ernie (Cindy) Doose, Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren, Heidi, Todd, Clark, Gary, Barbara, Tiena, and Taylor; six great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Mary) Doose, Cederedge, Colorado; sister, Betty Wyatt, Pine, Arizona; sister-in-law, Blanche Hamby, Clearfield, Utah; many nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elsie Jessup and Pat Steinhagen.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at 2 p.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive. Friends may call Tuesday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Wednesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
