HELPER--Ricardita Benavidez Montoya Gentry, age 89, died July 7, 1999 in Salt Lake City.
She was born July 30, 1909 in Lumberton, New Mexico to Alfredo and Alvira Valdez Benavidez. Married Jose L. Montoya, August 19, 1930 in Lumberton, New Mexico. He died September 23, 1977. Married Elijah C. Gentry, April 14, 1984 in Price. He died January 29, 1992. Member of the Catholic Church. Longtime resident of Helper. She enjoyed playing Bingo and will dearly miss her many wonderful friends at the Senior Center in Price.Survived by three daughters, three sons and their spouses: Marie and Julian Salas, Joe A. and Vicki Montoya, Erlindo and Nancy Montoya, Betty Montoya, Joe L. Jr. and Connie Montoya, Lydia and Mike Zamantakis; two sisters, Lupie Ann Thornton and Alice Crowther. Also survived by 24 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, three brothers, and one sister.
Funeral Mass Sat., July 10, 1999 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper. Vigil Service Friday evening 7 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery.
