Auditions have been scheduled for two new theater productions.

-- PIONEER THEATRE COMPANY will hold auditions Tuesday, Aug. 17, for William Shakespeare's "As You Like It," being guest-directed by Paul Barnes.Equity auditions are scheduled for 1 to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 5 p.m., with non-Equity tryouts from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Equity members may sign up for any open time slot if they are unable to make the reserved times. Non-Equity players must check with the stage manager before signing up for an Equity time slot.

All roles are open for the Shakespeare comedy, scheduled to run Oct. 27-Nov. 13 on the Lees Main Stage of the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre.

All auditioners must sign up for a specific time slot on the callboard posted outside of Room 150 of the West Institute building, across the street from the theater. Auditions will be in the same room.

Those auditioning may give brief Shakespearean monologues or read from the script. Specific audition scenes will be posted three days before the auditions. For further information, call PTC's audition hotline at 585-3927.

Barnes has directed Shakespearean works throughout the country, including this summer's production of "Troilus and Cressida" at the Utah Shakespearean Festival.

-- THE SCERA CENTER will hold auditions for its Showhouse II production of "South Pacific" on Friday, Aug. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. until noon in Room B3 of the SCERA Center, 745 S. State, Orem.

All roles are open except for those of nurse Nellie Forbush and plantation owner Emile De Becque, which will be played by local professional artists Jayne Luke and Marvin Payne.

Jerry Elison is directing the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, scheduled to run Oct. 22-Nov. 15 as part of the SCERA's "Encore Season."

Performers from 16 years of age and up are invited to audition. Come prepared with 16 measures of a musical theater song. An ac-companist will be provided.
