Our beloved mother, Edna (Illum) Rooker, 93 years of age, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on August 13, 1999. She has rejoined her loving husband and our father, Clifton Aird Rooker, who was called home in 1975.
Mom was born October 21, 1905 in St. John, Oneida County, Idaho. Mom and Dad were united in eternal marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1, 1927. They lived in Malad City, Idaho; Modesto, California; Boise, Idaho; Logan, Utah; Stockton, and then again Modesto, California, where Mom lived until 1986. She later lived in Henderson, Nevada, and most recently in Sandy, Utah at the Sandy Regional Health Center.Mom dedicated her life to her husband, to her children and grandchildren, and to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which she served in virtually every calling in the Relief Society, the MIA (as it was known then), and the Primary. She was a wonderful cook (world's best lemon meringue pie), and crocheted many beautiful blankets, sweaters, and other lovely pieces. She loved to read; she had poetry in her soul; she made beautiful music; and she was blessed with great intelligence. Most of all, she was Dad's partner and helpmate in his many years of service in Church leadership and business in the Modesto and Stockton areas and in the stakes, wards, and branches of the L.D.S. Church that grew from a handful of members in 1936 to many thousands today. Having given her life to service, she was loved and respected by many, many long-time friends and associates, many of whom, like Dad, preceded her in death.
Mom is survived by her daughter, Frances Zamora (and her husband Frank), of Antioch, California; and her son, Keith Rooker (and his wife Lousje), of Henderson, Nevada and Park City, Utah; by her 10 grandchildren, Dan Richardson, Linda Tenney, Bill Richardson, and Rob Richardson (Fran's children); and Elizabeth Grannis, John Rooker, David Rooker, Paul Rooker, Andrea Webb, and Sara Webb (Keith's children); and by her 22 great-grandchildren. Her beloved granddaughter Debbie also preceded her in death.
Mom has left a wonderful heritage of service and love. Her life will always be an example to her family and friends, and the many whom she served and taught, and influenced for good.
Family and friends are invited to call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale, Utah, Monday, August 16, 1999, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. No formal funeral services are planned. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Park, Hughson, California, preceded by a graveside service Saturday, August 21, at 11 a.m.
